My Unhurried Life

Finding the Truth in slowing down and simple living.

I’m inserting a pause in the middle of the Taking Back series to make this post.

I took an unintentionally long break over these several months. It was an intentional break initially as we celebrated the holidays and the turn of the year; it becomes so full that it’s worth pausing everything that isn’t totally necessary at the time.

I was okay giving myself the breathing room to jump back into this once things quieted down, but I took a few months longer than I intended… and here’s why:

I’ve been reconsidering a lot, going back and forth with the way I want to approach this blog. As I mentioned before, there’s so much content out there and my aim here is to help others digest and simplify information.

And I realize that’s not just throwing together a 10-step process for you.

There’s benefit in the simple lists, but I think those are easy to write off when you don’t really see the point behind it.

My Approach

A lot of my life has been a constant “trying to figure things out,” attempting to wrap my head around how to get things right.

What is the purpose to my life? How do I make it the best?

I’ve always felt like I could achieve a certain… enlightenment, if you will, that would help me reach my highest potential. And I felt as though, with writing, I couldn’t make a post about a certain topic until I had it figured out. I felt as though I’d be an imposter if I was writing from a place of still journeying.

But isn’t that a lie.

We aim for perfection but it will never be reached here on earth. Waiting until I’ve figured out a topic so I can then, write about it, is impossible. So I will write from a place of imperfection.

The Foundation

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I realize there’s a whole lot of noise out there. There are certainly better ways to exercise and better ways to clean and better ways to schedule your day, but the foundation to all of this is Scripture.

Ultimately, our lifestyle should revolve around stewardship rather than success, and treating your body as a temple instead of an idol.

This lifestyle can be put into motion differently for each individual, but the core principles are there.

Here are 5 truths I believe are foundational to how we live everyday:

  1. Subdue and cultivate the Earth.
  2. Multiply His Kingdom.
  3. Steward our belongings and be faithful with what He’s blessed us with.
  4. Be in tune with nature and live alongside it.
  5. Glorify God with your body, as a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Throughout my posts, I will be breaking down these truths and reflecting on them.

The Shift

My content will look very similar to before, but I want to focus on challenging fellow believers as I walk through this journey myself. We worry so much about the details of things; whether keto or carnivore diet is better. Should I exercise in the mornings or the evenings? There’s much to distract ourselves with; the noise. Ideas that keep us busy pondering so our focus turns away from Jesus.

So as I continue forward, my outlook will be for the Kingdom, as the Kingdom.

How does Jesus call us to live? And how do we do it well?

Stick around as we dive in.
